Precise Orange Crush is a specially formulated paste flux for use with Precise Platinum lead free alloy. It is a water soluble paste flux which contains no zinc or ammonium chloride, petrolatum or metals. It also does not leave any corrosive residues behind after soldering.
Precise Orange Crush can dissolve away even the heaviest oxide films to provide a superior solder joint. It is for use on all solder-able metals (except aluminum and stainless steel - for these use Precise Stainless Steel Flux or Aluflux).
Precise Orange Crush also promotes wet-ability of the weld by spreading quickly and evenly over the surface to be soldered. It meets ASTMB813 specifications for solder paste.
USE OF ORANGE CRUSH AND PLATINUM
Orange Crush soldering paste and Platinum solder were formulated to be used optimally together. Orange Crush can also be used with any leaded or lead-free solder alloys.
The Orange Crush should be applied to the area were joint is required. Upon application, an immediate cleaning action can be observed. This occurs even at room temperature.
Heat the joint as usual with mapp or propane gas for several seconds. When the solder begins to flow, allow about 5 seconds for it to start flowing into the joint, remove the heat and continue to work solder into the joint. Allow it to cool at room temperature. Note: larger pipes may take slightly longer to fill the joint.
This flux will activate at about 100 degrees Fahrenheit below the usual temperature that other solder pastes require. It is important not to overheat as the flux could char and become less effective
Orange Crush used in conjunction with Platinum lead-free solder will promote faster bonding at much lower temperatures and with less solder usage.
